You can see here the authorities that are in the programme of inspection for the current year.

Information and guidance on the inspection process can be found here.

Performance standards

Performance standards for social landlords and homelessness functions provide a consistent basis for self-assessment by organisations and external assessment by inspectors. They are split into guiding standards and activity standards. The Guiding Standards should act as underpinning principles for the way landlords go about their business. They are organised into planning and managing performance, social inclusion, service delivery and communication and RSL governance and financial management Activity standards deal with service activities such as housing management and property maintenance and homelessness.

Scottish Housing Quality Standard

We are monitor the progress of landlords in delivering the Scottish Housing Quality Standard. We collect information about RSL and local authority progress towards the Standard and publish progress reports which you can see here.

Self assessment

This section of the website provides a set of self-assessment questions for each Performance Standard. The questions are a tool that social landlords can use in their own performance management and quality assurance systems to assess their own performance as part of a process of continuous improvement.

Performance indicators

Audit Scotland has a role in determining performance information to be reported by local authorities. The housing and homelessness indicators are available here. These indicators are aligned as far as possible with indicators of performance for Scottish RSLs.

Statistics

The Scottish Government collects information about councils’ housing and homelessness services which are available here.

We collect a wide range of information from RSLs. This includes contextual information which should be useful to councils in developing and reviewing their housing strategies.

We publish information about the stock owned by RSLs, broken down by size, type and age. We also hold information about rent charges and service performance.

If the information you need is not here and you wish to make a specific information request, please click here.

We also publish financial information on the RSL sector in the Financial Digest and information describing the profile and performance of the sector in the Statistical Review. In addition a series of tables provides detailed information about particular RSL stock and rent levels, as well as standard indicators of performance, some by council area.

Good Practice

We publish themed examples of good practice, including our web based publication on gathering service users’ views.

We have produced a gateway providing access to the most up to date information on health and safety relevant to social housing providers.

Consultations

We publish consultation papers, which may be relevant to the work of local authorities. We appreciate any comments you may have.
