Thematic Studies
One of the ways we aim to support the social housing sector is to carry out thematic studies of specific service areas and report our findings. These topic based studies allow us to report a national picture of performance and highlight good practice.

This study included case studies and desk top research to examine evictions practice across the social housing sector.
• Equalities in practice, 2002
This study looks at how the social housing sector is tackling equalities. It presents a national picture of performance and highlights good practice.
• Services for Gypsies/Travellers
This study examines how local authorities are delivering services for gypsies/travellers.
• RSLs and Homelessness: Thematic Report
The contribution of registered social landlordsto preventing and alleviating homelessness in scotland
We also work with other organisations to produce thematic studies and reports:
• Review of good practice advice with particular reference to tackling low demand, October 2003
This was a joint project with Audit Scotland to review good practice advice.
• Managing Housing Voids: The impact of low demand properties, July 2004
This was a joint project with Audit Scotland to look at the management of housing voids.
• Performance Management in local authority housing services: an empirical view, October 2004
This study looked at performance review, management and self-assessment in Scottish Local Authorities. We jointly funded this project with the Scottish Best Value Housing Network (SHBVN).
