GOVAN HOUSING ASSOCIATION INSPECTION REPORT
The Scottish Housing Regulator today published its inspection report on Govan Housing Association. The purpose of the inspection was to provide an independent external assessment on the effectiveness of its housing services.
Govan owns and manages 1,174 properties located within the Govan area of Glasgow and factors a smaller number of properties in the area. The Association was registered as a social landlord in 1976, and is constituted as a charitable Industrial and Provident Society.
The Regulator awarded the Association a ‘fair’ rating for its overall performance.
Michael Cameron, The Scottish Housing Regulator’s Head of Inspection said:
“Our inspectors found that the Association has some strengths and also areas where it needs to make improvements. It provides good access to its repairs service and its performance in carrying out urgent and routine repairs is good. The Association is aware that it needs to improve its performance in minimising rent arrears and must improve its performance in rent lost through empty houses.”
The Chairperson of Govan Housing Association, Georgina Hay, said:
“Govan Housing Association always welcomes feedback on how it delivers its service and our recent inspection by the Scottish Housing Regulator is no exception. We are pleased that the report highlights many of the Association’s strengths but we recognise that there are areas where we need to improve. We will focus our efforts on these areas by developing a plan that will take the Association forward and help us deliver better services to our tenants and our other customers.”
