GLEN OAKS HOUSING ASSOCIATION INSPECTION REPORT

Glen Oaks Housing Association was inspected by The Scottish Housing Regulator. The purpose of the inspection was to provide an independent external assessment on the effectiveness of its housing services.

Glen Oaks owns and manages 1,264 properties located within Greater Pollok, Glasgow and factors a smaller number of properties in the area. The Association was registered as a social landlord in 1991, and is constituted as a charitable Industrial and Provident Society.

Following our inspection, The Regulator awarded the Association a ‘fair’ rating for its overall performance.

Michael Cameron, The Scottish Housing Regulator’s Head of Inspection said:

“Our inspectors found that the Association has some strengths and also areas where it needs to make improvements. It services are accessible, it is good at managing antisocial behaviour and it has good performance in completing repairs. It understands where it needs to improve, and has begun to address many of these areas. The Association is aware that it needs to deliver value for money across all its services. ”

The Chief Executive of Glen Oaks, Alasdair McKee, said:

“Glen Oaks Housing Association found the inspection process to be very helpful and worthwhile. We are pleased that the Regulator has highlighted many strengths in the Association’s work. We also accept that we have further work to do to improve the organisation. Our Committee and Staff will ensure that the Association continues to strive to provide the best possible service to its customers.”

5. The Scottish Housing Regulator came into operation on 1 April 2008. It is the successor to Communities Scotland’s Regulation & Inspection Division. As a government agency the Scottish Housing Regulator has complete operational independence, but remains accountable to Scottish Ministers, and through them to the Scottish Parliament for the standard of its work. The agency sits within the Justice and Communities Directorate of the Scottish Government and works within the government’s overall purpose and contribute to its strategic objectives.
