What we do

Our inspection programme

How, what and when we inspect is based on our assessment of risk and is proportionate to how we view the performance of landlords and where we can add value. In practice, we have four types of inspection:

Baseline inspections
of organisations we have not yet inspected. These will include local authorities we have not yet inspected and any new registered social landlords.

Re-inspections
of organisations we gave a D (poor) grade in a previous inspection.

Risk-based inspections
are one possible regulatory response to our risk assessment work.

Thematic inspections
across a number of organisations around particular themes or client groups, or within a defined geographical area where we need to take a community-wide view of performance.

Baseline inspections for 2009/10

Re-inspections for 2009/10

Risk-based Inspections for 2009/10

This list will be added to during the year in response to our regulatory assessments for all RSLs.

We will tell organisations as far in advance as possible of the actual start dates for their inspections. We will usually let them know at the start of the three-month period that their inspection will start in.

We intend to run a programme of short notice inspections of RSLs during 2009/10. We will publish more information about this part of our programme soon.
